Wilmington, NC – The 5th annual Big Shots Wilmington NC Top 100 brings top talent throughout the Port City of Wilmington and surrounding regions. Past MVP’s consisted of Ricky Council II (Providence/UMBC), Brandon Childress (Wake Forest), Matt Elmore (UNCW), Jarren McCallister (Virginia Tech), Bryce Schneider (Richmond, El Ellis & many other college level players over the years. This year’s event was no different as many of NC’s top players and biggest sleepers took the court. NBA G-League Texas Legends head coach Bob McKinnon was the guest speaker at the event. Let’s take a look at the top 2021 performers and MVP:
Chris Daniels 2021 6’0 PG Millbrook (NC) / Carolina Elite |
When evaluating young prospects you look at skill set, speed, size, length and foot size that in which Chris Daniels stands out in all categories deserving of being named 2021 MVP in two consecutive years at Big Shots Wilmington NC Top 100. One of NC’s top freshman PG’s in the class plays with pace, maturity and court vision you want in a floor leader. Doesn’t force plays that aren’t there even in a camp setting that can drift to that but makes the right read leading to him scoring or assisting. Love his skill set and upside. Advanced game with his footwork, ability to use left and right, shoots off the catch and dribble at a high effiency rate. His length, hands and a big foot show he will grow. Games reminds me of a CJ McCollum type in several ways. Fluid game. Also carries a 3.6 GPA. BIG SHOTS NC 2021 Top 10, will be one to watch in 2021 class. Chrisdaniels_j
Khalil Marshall 2021 5’9 PG New Hanover (NC) |
Quick PG’s with a stroke are high on my likings; Khalil has both. He is a smooth shooting point guard that is one of Mid Eastern Conferences top PG’s in 2021 and will be one to watch at the lead guard spot in NC’s 2021 class. A quick pull up game, with a tight handle and ability to blow by scoring on floaters and creativity at the rim. New Hanover always has had a star point guard running the show and Khalil will be next in line behind Freddie Taylor. Has the gears and pushes tempo both offensively and defensively. Sees the floor as a natural PG. Big Shots NC 2021 Top 25
Tony Musacchio 2021 5’11 SF North Brunswick (NC)/ Wilmington Waves/Flight 22 |
Love to see when players make that jump from camp to camp case in point Tony Musacchio came out in Wilmington NC Top 100 much more aggressive and scored in a variety of ways in averaging 8 ppg. Named to 2021 Big Shots Wilmington NC Top 100 All Star team. His motor was key in his production. Runs his lane hard, makes smart reads on offense playing well without the ball. Doesn’t force plays not there. Shot the mid-range jumper well in skills and games.
Jason Franklin 2021 5’5′ PG Orange High School NC Team Quest |
When you hit 12 out of 15 3’s to lead the camp in skills you can definitely stroke it. Jason has a pure release from downtown and it carried over to games where he scored 10 points in game 2. Shot maker mid-range as well. Small in size but will grow and plays to his strengths and can get his shot off quick on a contest. A top 2021 shooter in camp leads to all star honors at Big Shots Wilmington NC Top 100. Twitter: @FJeffTank
Abrahm Driver 2021 6’2 SG Pender (NC) / Flight 22 |
Abrahm is now a 2-time all star at Big Shots Top 100’s this fall earning all star honors at Wilmington Top 100 after averaging 8 ppg. A good size freshman shooting guard that makes the hustle plays that helps his team win. Scored on drives, hit the mid-range jumper. Shot blocker, defends multiple positions. Also was named 2021 All Star at Big Shots MB Top 100 Paul Biancardi.
Walter Ghaffar 2021 6-2 PG Fayetteville Academy (NC) / Angel Elite |
Walter is a high flying 2021 guard that attacks the rim playing well above it and runs the floor using his athleticism to convert to buckets. Solid shooter from mid-range, shoots the 3. Playing through an injured nose, Walter showed his toughness going after every ball with relentless effort. At 6’2 and running the PG spot or able to play off the ball Ghaffar averaged 7 ppg at Big Shots Wilmington NC Top 100 earning 2021 all star honors. Really like his up with his skill set and athleticism. Twitter: AbG
