Greg Gantt, a 6-foot-7 small forward from Trinity Christian (NC) School caught up with us at Big Shots to discuss his recruiting trail. Gantt has taken unofficial visits to North Carolina State, East Carolina, North Carolina-Charlotte, and South Carolina thus far. He broke down each visit.

North Carolina State-“I’ve been there a bunch of times, but the last time I toured the practice facility and campus. I liked the atmosphere the students provided and people around seemed really cool. With the coaches we talked about the season with how things were going and just getting to know one another better.”

North Carolina-Charlotte-“I went and played at their elite camp. I toured the campus, it’s beautiful. Coach [Mark] Price talked to me briefly afterwards about the day and I could tell he knows his stuff. Real cool people there.”

South Carolina-“I toured the school and I liked it. The practice facility, which is there old gym, I loved it. They had multiple courts, training rooms, and their weight trainer was impressive. The people there are gun hoe about South Carolina and I liked that aspect too. Coaches are tough guys that try and bring the best out of their players.”

East Carolina-“I have visited there twice, but only have really seen the new practice facility and home gym. It’s where I would spend majority of my time, but I like it. Coach [Jeff] Lebo and the staff are really good people. Unfortunately, he has stepped down though. I don’t really know much about that situation over there.

According to our Big Shots rankings, Gantt is the No. 9 overall player in the state of North Carolina for the Class of 2019 with a 91 overall grade.

Gantt holds offers from VCU, Virginia Tech, UConn, Western Carolina, Appalachian State, Campbell, Depaul, Grambling State, Hampton, Eastern Kentucky, East Carolina, South Carolina, North Carolina-Charlotte, and Providence.

Gantt told us at Big Shots that out of these schools Providence, UConn, Virginia Tech, and VCU are after him strongly.

Providence-“I like those guys a lot. During this recruiting stuff you are able to really pick out the real from the fake. Those guys are real and are upfront about everything we talk about. I love what they are doing with the program. I want to take a visit.”

UConn-“They talk to me a bunch too and I like them. They’ve come on strong in the last couple of weeks. As I build a relationship with them, I will have a more in-depth description. I’m eager to see how this upcoming season goes.”

Virginia Tech and VCU-“They are both new, but I look forward to knowing more about them both.”

Gantt told us that Kansas State, Xavier, Oklahoma, Ohio State, and Virginia also stay in contact with the Trinity Christian (NC) School star forward.

Gantt is high school teammates at Trinity Christian (NC) School with 2019 Five-Star Duke commit Joey Baker. The two make for an intriguing wing combo and will be an exciting duo to watch this season.
